Sashiko, or little stabs is a decorative embroidery from Japan. Traditionally, it was used to reinforce worn clothing or to repair areas with tears, but now is purely for ornamental purposes. The white pattern against the indigo blue cloth is said to recall snow falling around old farmhouses.
